Question:
We hear that the Church has begun to focus more intentionally upon its disabled members. What are some of the services that are provided?

Answer:
The North American Division has established a Commission for People With Disabilities with broad goals and objectives that relate to accessibility, accommodation, encouragement, and employment issues. Unions and conferences have disabilities ministries coordinators that promote these goals in their areas. For a listing of specific services, please contact your local church pastor or local conference secretary.

Question:
Is the World Church focusing on the disabled, or is this just a concern of the North American Division?

Answer:
At the 1995 General Conference Session in Utrecht, The Netherlands, the World Church voted that this ministry be established at all levels of the church and in all local churches. Please see a current issue of the Church Manual for more details.

Question:
How can I get involved in disabilities ministries if I am interested in this service?

Answer:
Good question! Contact your local conference for the name of the conference coordinator, if you do not have a ministry in your local church. This individual will be most happy to know of your interest to serve in this important ministry.
