Question:
What is the chief function of the Office of Human Relations?

Answer:
The chief function of the Office of Human Relations is to assist the North American Division in transforming its members into one new humanity in Christ. It focuses on designing, modeling, and implementing bold initiatives that will lead to eliminating discrimination, bias, bigotry, and racism within the body of Christ.

Question:
Are there offices of human relations at all levels of the Church?

Answer:
As far as we are aware, the North American Division is the only Division of the World Church that has an Office of Human Relations. Many of its unions and conferences have assigned this function to certain individuals. In some cases it is a director of human relations; in others it may be the executive secretary. Although not always broadly defined, human relations work is done to some degree at all levels of the Church.

Question:
If I have qualifications and expertise in Human Relations, is there a place in Church employment for me?

Answer:
Please feel free to address this question to the Human Resources Department of your local conference, educational or healthcare institution.

Question:
Where do I get general questions answered that pertain to human relations?

Answer:
You can contact your local conference secretary or human relations director, if there is one. Otherwise, you may contact the NAD Office of Human Relations for guidance as to where you might go to get specific answers. The number is (301) 680-6410.
